About the Foundation
The Krewe of the Knights of Sant' Yago was established in 1972 by a group of five men who saw the need to preserve their culture and formalize the trust, support, and respect amongst its membership while collaborating to assist the community at large. Over the past half century the Krewe has formally and informally supported the local community in various ways to include providing for the needy, mentoring entrepenuers, supporting the local economy, and helping bright young minds navigate the hallowed halls of the local collegiate environments.
In 1994, the members of the Krewe formalized their phailanthropic commitments by creating the Krewe of Sant' Yago Education Foundation which is an independent 501c3 organization committed to the enrichment of the local Tampa Bay Area community. The Foundation's Mission is 'To support college scholarships and other educational enhancements for qualified Latino students at higher educational institutions in the state of Florida.' Currently the Krewe of Sant' Yago Fondation provides scholarships to over 63 local college students at the University of Tampa, the University of South Florida, and Hillsborough Community College but the goal is to continue to expand that number reflecting the continued expansion of the Foundation's philanthropic efforts and its unyielding commitment to the unique heritage of the Tampa Bay Area
